Kelsen Part 4 – Confession and Promise
“Kelsen you can’t be here. Myles is…”
“Myles isn’t here Jaidee. He left you alone, pregnant and alone.” His words were brutal but that didn’t change the truth in them as they hit Jai.
“It’s work.” She exhaled a heavy sigh; she knew how lame that sounded. Kelsen knelt at her side and took her hand. She let him.
“It took the threat of your death to force me to go from your side and I know now sweetheart that I should never have left you.” Kelsen moved with a supernatural speed and stole a deep kiss from her lips. “Nothing would have taken me from you had you been wearing my ring or carrying my child.”
“Children.” Jai corrected him automatically, her other hand, the one he was not holding, moved to her lips touching them gently as his kiss lingered. Just him being there made her heart race a little faster and memories rose of three decades sprinkled with intense and passionate encounters and then at the end of them realising it was more than desire that they loved each other, loved so strong that they parted to keep the other safe.
“I should never have given you up Jaidee and this time I will not. I love you Jaidee, somehow this heartless bastard found a heart with love in it and it’s for you, only you. I’ve been miserable without you, sick with it with you gone from me.”
“Kelsen stop.” Jai’s voice was shaking. He was breaking her heart with his words. She’d tried for over a year to forget him and move on and she had with Myles and with him gone and now Kelsen declaring his unshakeable love her heart was tearing again. “You shouldn’t be here.”
“Do you want me to go?” Kelsen took her chin between his fingers and tilted her head to look at him. “Look me in the eyes and banish me from you and I’ll go forever.” She couldn’t. Her eyes dropped and lingered on a spot on the carpet.
“I love you and I know you still love me.”
“I’ll always love you Kelsen.” Jai admitted the words in a quiet whisper her eyes still on the floor. “But you left and Myles made me his bride and I’m pregnant.”
“That doesn’t mean anything Jaidee because I am here with you now. I love you and I’ll love our children too. He left you alone when he should have been worshipping you as your belly swelled with this gift and showing that love daily. Forget him Jaidee. Forget him and be with me. I love you.” He kissed her again and the autopilot of her body took control for a few moments as he deepened the kiss, her fingers trailed the familiar contours of the muscles of his arms. Then she pulled back and pushed him away.
“Kelsen…I…” She trailed off speech failing her. It was too much to take in, she was on overload. She was flustered, confused, in shock…just in overload, a multitude of emotions and reactions all jostling for prime position and attention. Kelsen ran a finger over her lips.
“Hush sweetheart. I pushed too hard too fast which wasn’t fair on you.” He stole another quick kiss and moved to the door. “I shall return for you tomorrow night at sunset sweetheart. I love you Jaidee.” And then he was gone leaving Jai staring out into the darkness after him beyond confused.
Kelsen didn’t go far, into the woods far enough that she could not see him in the darkness but with his keen vampire eyes he could still watch her and it broke him watching her cry like that.
“You will be mine again Jaidee, our love is too strong. Tomorrow you will forget Myles, you will forget ever knowing anyone’s love but mine and we can be together.” He remained there watching her until she fell into an exhausted sleep still laying on the couch where he had left her. He moved inside then and drew a blanket over her, he kissed her forehead, a fang scratching the skin slightly, she was still just as intoxicating being this close. He contemplated feeding from her as she slept but he could wait until tomorrow, until she was his again and they could both enjoy the sensation. He took a vial out of his pocket and moved into the kitchen opening the fridge to find the fresh squeezed juice. Some habits never changed and Jai still had her morning glass of juice. He let nine droplets fall into the juice from the vial before closing the lid and returning it to his pocket. He swirled the juice around and placed it back as it had been and then he was gone from the house before the sun could rise and find him there.
